Wellmont Health System is a leading healthcare provider in the Tri-Cities region of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Formed in 1996 with the merger of Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn., and Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tenn., Wellmont is a not-for-profit, integrated health system guided by the mission to deliver superior health care with compassion and a vision to deliver the best health care anywhere.

Wellmont has grown steadily since its inception, developing a regional network of hospitals and healthcare facilities serving patients in Kingsport, Bristol, Johnson City and surrounding communities in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Today, thousands of caregivers and hundreds of physicians help contribute to Wellmont’s Healing Environment every day, focusing on curing diseases and healing patients.

Wellmont provides a continuum of services ranging from community-based acute care to highly specialized tertiary services, including nationally recognized cardiology care from the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute and the region’s only Level One Heart Attack Network. Wellmont also offers the region’s most advanced robotic surgery program using CyberKnife and the da Vinci Surgical System, cares for some of the region’s tiniest patients in its Level III neonatal intensive care unit and is the only health system in the state of Tennessee to offer two major trauma centersWellmontOne Air Transport provides air ambulance service for the critically injured, and the registered nurses at Wellmont Nurse Connection help answer medical questions and provide physician referrals 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1-877-230-NURSE.

Wellmont also serves as the regional affiliate for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative and supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Wellmont is an operating partner with Adventist Health System at Takoma Regional Hospital and also maintains clinical affiliations with Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Va., and Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville, Va.

An array of healthcare facilities complement the services provided by Wellmont’s hospitals. In Bristol, Tenn., Ridgeview Pavilion offers comprehensive psychiatric services and Wellmont Hospice House provides care for terminally ill patients in a comfortable environment. Wellmont Madison House, located in Kingsport, provides assisted living and a therapeutic day program for frail elderly persons and mid-life adults with chronic illness. And Wellmont Urgent Care is Johnson City’s best choice for the care of minor illnesses and injuries.

Additional facilities, including Wellmont’s Southwest Virginia Cancer Center in Norton, offer a wide range of treatment options and other services throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Wellmont Health System is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of physicians, business leaders and community residents. Additionally, boards of directors at Wellmont hospitals provide local guidance and input.
